Hackensack police officer’s hearing set for October

HACKENSACK – The hearing for a Hackensack police officer facing dozens of administrative charges is scheduled for next month, although questions remain about a significant number of the approximately 90 charges filed against the officer.

Police Officer Alessandra Viola’s administrative hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 12, 14 and 15. Viola, who was hired as a dispatcher in 1998 and became a police officer two years later, was suspended from her job in January 2009 after department officials filed criminal and administrative charges against her for allegedly having her driver’s license suspended at various times while performing her duties as a police officer and driving a police car. Several weeks later, the department filed additional charges against her related to the license issues.
